Hi,
Can any one help? I ma trying to find the maiden name of Dinah Thornhill. She was born about 1799 and married William Thornhill, possibly about 1830 (oldest child on 1841 census is 9 years old).

Can anyone find a marriage between these 2?

I did find 1 mariage on LDS but is was Manchester. I dont think this can be the right one as William was born in Birmingham and Dinah in Malbury Green, Worcs.

I'm hoping her maiden name might be Taylor or Collinton.

Thank you

hello mand, ive checked my cds but nothing for this family im afraid. i saw that marriage in manchester but i looked for dinahs birth and that was in manchester as well so as you said it probably isnt your dinah.

checked for christenings of the children but again drew a blank. they could have been married many years before 1830 because william is 40 and dinah 30. any older children may have moved on or died.

the only thing i can suggest is to get the birth certificate for david thornhill which is 1838 apr-jun birmingham 16 281. :)

Hi Shera,
Many thanks for your hard work with this. I was trying to find a connection John Collinton who is living with the family in 1851, listed as nephew.

I imagine that in the end I will end up sending for David's birth certificate.

Again, thanks for the help, i appreciate it.

mand, i dont know why you were looking for collinton or TAYLOR but i have found this marr at st. martins which looks like it may be the connection you seek

marr nov 13 1845 william layfield. full age. bach. brass founder. price st. father william layfield. lace weaver

to maria collington. full age. widow. price st. father john taylor. tailor.

witnesses who only signed with a cross william and dinah thornell :peace:

Fantastic! I didn't know that Maria remarried ( really shouldn't get so excited!!) I assumed that Maria had died and John was living with her sister. I knew that Maria was a Taylor before marrying Johns father (also John).

I was trying to find out if Dinah was Maria or John's sister.

Thanks again - you have made my day :)
