hi margaret, the name does appear to be varehead! here are the details.
23 jan 1839 at st. martins, bham
james ward. full age. widower. cordwainer. watford. father - robert ward. butcher
mary varehead. full age. widow. mill lane. father - richard matthews. chandler
witnesses were william watson and elizabeth lewis
