Lyn I think the answer lies with the metal company to the right if that's identified all might be revealed .

Lyn could it be the other corner of Ludgate Hill/ Lionel Street?
it could be lynn but looking at the building on the other corner that also looks like it was there before my photo was taken..what we need is for someone to find out what number lionel st the engineering co was...

The white/light coloured building on Ludgate Hill shows #17 (?) at the top of the building, and I think the signage has 'Printer' beneath the name of the business. At first, I thought the building was a public house, but it looks more industrial.

Judging by the child's clothes, this photo looks to be about the early 1900s - a bit hard to be precise as the child is blurred in the image. So, any later building on the site would need to be post- c1910/20ish.

I've been round and round on this one, and the only place I think it can be is the one Lyn first suggested in post #1. It's now #17, Ludgate Lofts. The site is where the cartoonist Frederick Roland Emmet once lived. The age of the current building looks about right to me for this to be possible.

If this is the place (red dot on map below), the street numbering must have been altered at some point. The arrangement of buildings in view in the photo roughly fits those on the map for that corner.

Also the building alongside the yellow dot is marked as a warehouse on other maps, possibly Bromford Iron and Steel etc warehouse
