Lovers' Walk - one for Astoness and Astonian

Thoroughly enjoying your posts: new to this but having enormous fun

Lovers' Walk, a narrow paved lane ran from Aston Hall Road under the railway bridge, parallel with the railway line down to the entrance to Aston Station and right opposite was the PDSA. It had street lights and as I recall there were a few houses furher down on the right hand side opposite the railway bank. Not a lane to wander down these days even in daylight, but I guess it has long gone.
 
Chris if you put Lovers Lane Aston into the search box (top r/h corner) there is a thread apparently it still exists. Dek
 
Well,the Swanpool and Holborn hill are still there.Do you remember the little shop up Holborn hill.I have a photo of it,from the 1930s.

Thanks for your greeting. I lost count of the number of times I walked up and down LW to catch the train with my parents to visit an Aunt in Lichfield.

Lovers Walk must have remained for quite a while after the war finished because I snogged there in my early days of interest. I too caught the train a few times but we used to go to Alrewas. Regards, David.

Many thanks chris for bringing up lovers walk i have great memories of the walk in more ways than one and i too did walk work and stroll up there a million times
and i would catcth he old steam train there on a sunday to go to sutton park as well with my old mate colin gaskin we lived up the lichfield rd
and on my very last visit to sutton park at the age of nine we went to suton park on the sunday morning and i ended up in a very nasty swamp in the wooded area
and i was sinking very rapid and to top it all my father bought me a brand new pair of sandells and as the result of the swamp the one sandell came of my foot
and disapeared down under so i had to walk back to the railway station in sutton and wait for a train to get back to lovers walk and aston station with one shoe on nd one off i walked all the way up to the lichfield rd back to the hous from the station and lovers walk
and i crept through the door of our house in cromwell terrace and slyly kicked my one sandel under the table but the old man clocked i only had one sandal on
and he said Alan where is your sandals i said under the table and then he said show me i showed him the one but he said where is the other one
then i had to confess he sent me to bed and no tea my old lady was in hospital expecting another baby
so she was not there to defend me but the main reason i think it was he only bought me those sandals the day before still i got time of from school for aweek
Dek , thanks for telling us that lovers walk is still there i must pop around some time and visit Astonian
