Lorton - Thomas Henry 1854 need mothers maiden name plse

Mother JANE
Born Walsall c1832
Seems she married Thomas Lorton (b1829) in Hayfield (ref 19/577), Cheshire/Derbyshire (this is the only marriage I can find!) in June 1850 - lord knows what they were doing there!.
1851 census shows her living in Harris grove (?) Walsall
Died Dec 1859 (Free BMD Birmingham 6d 5) seems in childbirth of William Lorton

Hoping for info as to Jane's maiden name and actual date of birth/death
 
There is a marriage of Thomas Lorton in March qtr 1851 in Walsall
reference 17 290.
This is from Free BMD and on this site the spouse has not always been transcribed.
You would need to buy the marriage certificate to find wifes name.
 
thanks Alberta - that one didn't come up for me (prob 'cause I put the wifes name in also).

I can't buy certificates :( as or Tunisian currency is not convertible, ie doesn't work outside of the country! :angry2:

I'm hoping that by having given Jane's death date, and now having the correct marriage info, that some kind sole may look up the microfilms in the library and dig out the info for me!!

I have finally found Thomas henry (Harry) Lorton under the 1881 census as Harry T!!

Maybe this will nudge someone else who's looking for my Jane....:)
 
Hi,
My G/G/Grandmother was Mary Ann Lorton, born Ca 1813, in Birmingham. She married William Collins and they had one son, Herbert Foothorape Collins. Heaven knows where the middle name came from, though there was an Ephraim Foothorape living with William and Mary Ann on the 1841 Census. For a relatively uncommon surname I have had a lot of problems, all unsolved as yet, finding siblings and parents of Mary Ann. At least we are looking for the same name. I would hazard a guess that there is a link between Thomas Henry and Mary Ann.
 
Hate to say this, Dave - but Lorton seems as common as mud!
I checked out the heraldry info a long time ago....
Robert Edward Boyle - Viscount Lorton of boyle Co.Roscommon, Ireland...
is noted in the English peerage during 1700's.
Apparently he had lands in England...Parish Lorton, hamlet Wynthrop (noted in national archives for 1861!!!!!)
Back in 18th century, I think it was common for people living in a parish to sometimes take it's name..
Please correct me someone if I'm wrong!!

Only yesterday, I spent x hrs wading thru' 20 years of Lortons in England - All 688 PAGES on Ancestry!!

Alberta, Many thanks for the St Phillips details. Unfortunately I cannot pinpoint James Lorton. Certainly can't find him in Brum and if my memory is correct the only James I could find was way up north, a possibility perhaps.
