In 1901 they are all listed as Webb for some reason.

I think this is the record Mark means

That's the one. The children are Albert's and his first wife.

In post #1 it is suggested Albert died in Kent in 1905 aged 29


That makes this Albert born in 1876

The marriage referred to in post #4to Emma Taylor took place in 1889 which would make him only13. The marriage cert has him as 24

Something is wrong here.

On the 1901 he is aged 36 which puts his birth around 1865. That would make him 40 in 1905 not 29.
On 1891 census he is 26 and a saw maker which fits
On 1881 census he is 16

This needs checking.

There's a death reg. for an Albert Edward Jenkins Mar 1908 West Brom. Age is 43 (birth Sep 1864), so a possible. Burial gives an address as 107 Birchfield Road.

I saw that and wondered. More likely as age fits.

1911 census for 107 Birchfield Road has Frank Ridsill listed (also on 1908 eroll at that address). Also listed is Mother-in-law Mary Jenkins.
I am fairly sure Mary was the name of Albert's mother.
Need to check if he had a sister Alice
Update; yes - he did Frank Ridsill married Alice Jenkins in 1895

Well done, that proves Albert died in 1908 Handsworth and not in Kent.

It seems to be the Albert that died in 1907 in Handsworth.

There are 4 Jenkins/Webb children reg. before Albert's death. Harold, as mentioned, Alice May, Edward and Walter Oswald. The 2 other boys died young as well but Alice May seems to have married a Charles Weaver.

OP also posted a message in the Gladstone Street thread where Alice was living in 1939.

Lyn, Janice, MWS and the rest of the Brummy Brains Trust: I've just seen this and am quite honestly blown away by the amount of time, effort and expertise you've all contributed here. I sincerely appreciate everything you've sourced and will be taking some time to read through it all.

Turns out my extended family had made quite a few assumptions about Albert given scant details about him within the family. I ordered documents from GRO indicating he was actually born in Burton Upon Trent in August 1864 to William (also a saw maker) and Mary Ann Jenkins. This also fits better age-wise with the wedding certificate I have for his first marriage to Emma Jenkins (1891). I can confirm that Emma Jenkins was Albert's first wife (married 1891) who died of tuberculosis in Aston (1900). Emma Jane Webb is my great-grandmother and so far I've had no luck sourcing their marriage certificate so it looks like the wedding didn't take place or occurred elsewhere as she took his surname before remarrying in 1907. I must admit I've been very skeptical about the death certificate my family had for Albert as we have no connection to Kent; I think they assumed he ended up there as he was a sawmaker/journeyman. I'm going to chase up the alternate dates suggested here.

I also didn't realise Albert had more children before Florence and Harold. Short of being a massive coincidence my great-grandmother went on to have children with her second husband William White - including two sons named Walter and Edward. My grandmother is Alice May Jenkins who went on to marry Charles Weaver and named her second son Harold.

Thanks also for the information on Florence - I was sad to see how long she spent in Aston Workhouse and Monyhull and will be doing more digging to hopefully fill in the gap between 1939 and her death.

I truly can't express my gratitude for all of your help so thank you all once again

That is an entry from the 1911 census. It contains pages of names at the homes with very little detail so I copied the entry for Florence. I found it on Ancestry.

The death cert for Florence will give an address so we can see where she was living. The difficulty is there are no more censuses after 1939 so records are few and far between.
Monyhull records exist at Birmingham Archives but are not online.

Please do let us know if you find any further information. We love a challenge on here and you certainly gave us one!
