Re: Marriage Lookup - LONGMORE - Edgbaston please

Hello Shera,

I'm getting careless in my old age! Took it straight off the IGI and yet wrote it down as Edgbaston! :(

I was hoping the witnesses might throw some light on this weird family, but it will have to wait until I'm over there in October. Thanks anyway. :)

Re: Marriage Lookup - LONGMORE - Edgbaston please

Hi Shera,

Yes, I already have that and it's his marriage that I would like a bit more detail of. There probably won't be much, just witnesses, but that just might throw a bit of light on a few things.

He was alive on the 1841 Census in Barford Street, Birmingham, his daughter Mary was born at East Gate Street, Stafford on 20 Oct 1844, and Eleanor was a widow in Darlaston on the 1851 Census. But the only death of an Alexander LONGMORE (or variants) between 1841 and 1851 was on 16 Jun 1841 in West London of a 6 year old boy.

And there's more .......:D

His daughter Mary's birth was registered twice - first by her mother on 13 Nov 1844, and again by an Elizabeth Malpas (who I believe to be the wife of the family she was boarding with) on 22 Feb 1845. Something obviously happened around that time - either Alexander died or he plain disappeared. Needless to say she married again in 1854. But what happened to Alexander?
