Location -Any ideas?

motorman-mike

Brum visitor who stayed.
Tram tracks are being removed here but where is it? Like the recent 'Where is This' #123, it looks a bit like the Bristol Road and a bit like Tyburn Road as well. Does anyone know or recognize this location please as I don't have any idea.

I agree,It does look a bit like bristol road south. Have taken road sign on right , and mucked around and made negative. i reckon the road name begins with an L, which doesn't agree with where i thought it might be

I'd guess at Streetly Road / Edgware Road junction, but only because I can't think of anywhere better! (especially if that road name begins with E, not L !)

I can't believe that pic was taken in Streetly Road, because that was a very undulating road, dropping from Stockland Green to the brook in the recreation grounds either side, and then climbing quite steeply to Short Heath Road.
Tyburn Road I would write off because I can't remember anything but Council houses fronting on to the road along its whole length.
So it must be Bristol Road or Bristol Road South. Without going to check up what buildings are still standing I cannot go any further, although I've looked through a few books.
Perhaps I can get round to finding out when I come to Brum next Saturday.
Incidentally, isn't it odd that they were lifting the rails before they dropped the overhead wires? As I remember the the track removal contractors were a lot sharper on the Bristol Road routes than they were on the Erdington side.

Don't think it's Bristol Road South, there were no shops from Longbridge island up to the tram terminus, which is Lickey Road.
If you look between the two posts there are some shops and what looks like an 'A' board.

There are shops on Bristol Rd. South, between Ryde Park Rd. and Cliff Rock Rd. have found this photo of Bristol Rd. South, and there are similarities.

It's not an "L" it,s a "D" for Dyas Road Kingstanding

I wonder if this shot somehow is quite similar, which would make it Tyburn Road. Houses look a lot alike, and 2nd overhead gantry is in the right position.
