Local Knowledge required - re a likely pub

hi rhoma i guessed you had got it as i remembered you saying william had 6 children which i can see are all on the 21 census...glad we were able to help you a bit...not sure if you need anymore help but if you do just let us know..oh yes do you have williams death ?

Yes I think I have everything, I was just trying to tie down the pub that William worked at. I remember my father saying that he used to wait for his parents (who turned out to be foster parents) outside the pub and he used to help them walk/stagger home (Brook Lane). I couldn't figure out how Dad ended up with the Smiths because it wasn't through the regular Birmingham foster/adoption channels. They had no record of him. I figure my grandmother must have made a scene and threatened to expose William's infidelity so he made an arrangement with some local bar regulars to take in his child and he would pay them. (The Smith's would have been struggling at the time because they were out of work). I know I'm assuming a fair bit but it's all I have at the moment.
If I come across anything else I will ask for sure.

hi rhoma i think a lot of times all we can do is assume/guess how and why things happened with our ancestors had to do it myself with my family.. we are always happy to help to try and fill in a few gaps...it could even be that your dads dad knew nothing of your dads existence all guess work of course
