Hi Gingerninja did you find out any more about the Capper link. As i said before my Grandad Capper did have a brother caled George in fact he named one his sons George. The family did live in the area you mentioned until about the first world war. Our name Is not a common name so there might be some connection. I asked my cousin in Australia today he seemed to think that the Capper family came to Birminham from tipton in the black country in the late 1800s but he was'nt sure its gets more confusing by the minute we might resolve it sometime. Hi Rockinted.
Yes confusion, but I am slowly sifting through it. Frederick Capper, our grandad was not registered as a Capper he was registered as Frederick Jones after his mother, it seems that William his father was married to sarahs first wifes brother, Thomas Jones He was a coast guard who was posted to KIngs Lynne Norfolk and died of a brain hemorage in 1877, she decided to move to Gloucester, It seems she lived with her in laws William and Susan Capper "Nee Jones". Susan died in 1881, Susan and Willam the had a de facto relationship, they were unable to marry as the law at the time forbade in laws` to do so, their relationship could still be deemed illegal by the powers that were, so after a few years the up and moved to Birmingham. All Williams childeren by Sarah had the last name Jones. When they arrived in Birmingham, William changed the family name to that of Sarahs, "Jones". Some of them changed there names back to Capper, probably when William died. Frederick our grand dad also changed his name to Capper. As you probably know Sarah in later life called herself Sarah Jones Capper. Stll confused.

So am I.

Regards to you all
