I am not sure if this was a shop or just a warehouse, but Liberty's of London was in Birmingham earlier in the 1900's. Can anyone tell me where it was please? I am given to understand New Street. I have found out today that one of my family worked there.

This seems to have been part of the site thjat is now Lewis's. between Bull St & Ol Square
 
Thank you Mike. The person I am speaking about died in 1949, but I have met his grandson today (he is 98 in November). He and his wife have an oriental vase which came from Liberty's - it was smashed but has been restored. I don't know what years his grandfather worked for Liberty's but he was working quite a long time after 65 - so I suspect he finished work in the 1930's. I love these bits of information which helps pad out the family history, but never expected Liberty's to feature there.
 
To follow on, they seem to have moved and in 1921 were:
Liberty & Co. Limited, Oriental merchants. Designers & Makers of artistic furniture, wares dress & furniture fabrics. Costumes & millinery. 43-44 New St.
But by 1921 they had gone from Birmingham
 
Thanks Mike, that concurs with what I was told yesterday, although I did think as the man who told me was 98 there may have been a few mistakes, but he was right on this one. What a pity they are not there now.
