Lewis's

Loved your Christmas card, Viv. What a cake! Amazingly like the real, later, building. Your earlier photos of the rebuilding of Lewis’s in 1931-32 were very interesting, particularly the view from Old Square right along the Minories to Bull Street. I have read somewhere that the building contractors donated a set of photographs of the rebuilding to Birmingham Archives. Apart from the ones you have shared with us are there any others or have we seen them all?

Hi Reedwarbler. There are many and they’re from a photographic record now in the possession of the Library of Birmingham. The record was found in Manchester in 2017. There are many more on this link (if it works for you). An excellent photographic record. Viv.
