  • Percival J Lett b 1894 - RAMC survived WW1 and 3rd Afghan War 1919 with 9th Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment attached to 1st Yorkshire Regiment
  • Emmanuel JV Lett b 1896 - 16th Bn Devonshire Regt, died Sep 1918
Emmanuel James Vincent Lett married my great aunt Alice Edith Nation in 1916. Any details on any family member welcomed. JohnRobert

In the electoral rolls, Emanuel (only one m) Lett was still at 2 back 20 bellis st in 1912, women were not generally included in 1912 rolls. He doesn't appear again. there is no Annie Lett included 1920 or 1925 . do you have details of Walter joseph after the war , or do you only need military information as he apprently is on the rolls.

Hey guys, thanks for the info thus far. Would appreciate any info not just service records.

Alice subsequently married Percival in 1924 therefore keeping the Lett surname. I do not know where she lived but they remained in Birmingham.

John

In 1920 Percival was at 20 Bellis st (not back 20) .No other voter was listed at the address. Alice was not listed anywhere, possibly because of her age.
In 1925, 1930, 1935 and 1939 Alice Edith and Percival john Lett are at 4 Gladstone place, Ladywood road. In 1945 they are at no 4 back of 75 Ladywood road. I’m pretty sure that this is the same place but slightly renamed. There were several ways of describing the back terraces and these sometimes changed.
Walter Joseph Lett was at 18 Norfolk buildings Waterworks road in 1920 (no other, but note what I said above about age for women). In 1925, 1930, 1935 he is still there but with Florence Agnes Lett. In 1939 they have moved to 51 Swinford road, selly oak. And they are still there in 1945.

There appear to be two Frederick letts in 1925 and 1930, one Frederick James and the other Frederick henry. Do you have any idea which?

This is great news, do you have all the Electoral Rolls to produce this info at such short notice. As for Frederick, he is Frederick J as far as I can tell. Thanks, might have a few more requests if I may in due course. John
