I am trying to find out previous businesses who used the premises before Lessar Brothers Ltd established themselves there around 1924. Also be interesting to see when and why the original structure was built, and perhaps what was there even before that.

In 1921 no 42 was occupied by Wheway Optical Co. Ltd. opticians. In 1908 it was the Wheway Optical Co. 1895 till 1900 the firm was Wheway Son & Redfern, opticians
Up till 1892 it was George W. Whitehouse, jewellers.

Is that Hylton St?

You mentioned them being founded in 1924, so I went to the nearest date after that where I had information

However since then checked the 1936 details. No numbers given, but they were listed between nos 14 and 28,which corresponds to 16-26.

I take it you want previous occupants of 16 to 26. Below is 1932 details - two silversmiths
