I have this great story about a relative of mine making a leather ladies companion bag contained silver backed comb, mirror, brush for the aviator Amy Johnson. Now it might be an 'urban family myth' but an elderly relative swears she saw the mock up and that it was presented to Amy Johnson in the Town Hall and that the maker worked for a company called Andrews in Birmingham - possible in the Hockley area.
I have been unable to validate the story so far but does anyone know of a leather company named Andrews or anything about Any Johnson coming to the Twon Hall in the late 1920's early 1930's?
