Does anybody remember working at the ICI Factory before or during the war?

Kathy
Asking for help re this site. Am trying to put a question up about my mother and sisters time at Kynochs in the 1930s as I believe the photos I have of my mother are of her receiving trophies for running with the Kynochs team but I can’t fathom out how to start a general conversation in this site. Can you help please.

Kathy,
Know Kynoch's very well, besides the entrance in Wellhead lane Perry barr,
The main entrance was at the Witton end,my father used to play bowls for their team,as Did George Cunningham, the old Aston Villa player.
My Brother -in -law worked there,as did my wife both in the factory,& offices when it then became the IMI.she used to arrive home covered with the green powder that was used on the ammunition. :)
Trying to find some information on my Grandad a William Bishop who was killed at kynochs 1943 a live Bullet I believe, name was outside on the war memorial.

Here is a collection of wartime photos taken at Kynochs.

Elsie May Chapman, my Grandmother, was a cook for the Executive Dining Room there. The photos I have found are of her at work; of the kitchen, the canteen and of an event in the grounds of the factory. There’s also clearly a competition victory involved judging by the large silver cup.

Gran is sharpening a knife in one photo, is in the middle of the three cooks in another and second on the left in the cup photo.
