“Touring” runs were held on Sundays and mid-week, and were fairly informal. Also note Mr A G Harper (mentioned in a number of press reports) was the Hon General Secretary named on the certificate in post #30. Viv.

Viv, I’m not sure…..When I rode there were time trial and massed start races. Usually time tails up to 75 miles and massed start over. But maybe that’s what I rode in as a junior, maybe oldbrit or others can provide some direction/clarity.

Slightly off-topic, but can’t help admiring the beautiful handwriting of the name, date etc on the certificate. Makes the document much more prized than the printed documents of today. Viv.

Most of us who were taught engineering drawing or drafting (draughting) were taught pen and ink calligraphy. Many important drawings were done on linen using Indian ink.

I thought I'd shared thhis image of the certificate a week or so ago.....Try again.

Thanks, Brian.

I recognise the name of Harold Binks on the certificate. He was Director of Amal Ltd which produced motor cycle carburettors on the Witton site. A company which bore his family name had combined with others to form Amalgamated Carburettors - later known as Amal - which was eventually absorbed into ICI Metals Division (IMI).

Harold Binks (b.1891) lived in Sutton and at least one other family member worked for Amal in the 1950s and later.

My farther was a member of the club from the late 1950s to the mid 1960s. I have quite alot of memorabilia including trophies, pictures etc and still have his orginal top in the team colours. Is this forum topic still active?

I have fond memories of riding with the club back in the 60's both Sunday club runs and time trials etc.
Jim and Faye Burley often led the Sunday club runs and which lasted all day.
Roger Bick, Alan Ordish, Brain Saywell, Tom??? ,Spangle and many others.
Great memories and still riding now with Droitwich CC and still a member of Beacon RCC
Sometimes I wish I could turn the clock back to those innocent days!
I still have my Kynock jersey but its a bit tight now!

Great memories, rode with the club, mostly on Sundays 1957 to 1960/1. Also did time trials with them and Birmingham Mercury!

My son Neil stumbled across this thread earlier this month but worried it was dormant. I have just browsed through it, clearly it is not dormant so I shall compose a contribution & post it in the near future. In the meantime, in brief:
I joined in 1960 & only left when I started work in Banbury & got married in the 1970s. Not a million miles away, but there was no M40 or M42 then. It was flattering (?) to see the photo of my struggling up Winnats Pass (Al & Mrs Harper brought me back to life as I lay on the grass vomitting from the effort). Also the names of my other contemporaries brought back many memories: Alan Ordidge, Roger Bick, Brian Saywell, Nigel Marshal, Tom Moore, Jim & Faye Burley (Faye worked with my then girlfriend, later wife, Gill at Good Hope Hospital), Roger Mayfield (Spangle), John & Ann Owen, Chris & Val Jones, Colin & Audrey Howkins, Ray Layton, Malcolm Hancock, Jerry Fitzgerald, Ken Evans, John Stanley (owned the first & probably only Moulton in the club), Harold Binks, Tony Marlowe. Others associated with Kynoch: Bob & Muriel Maitland, Stan Jones, Graham Webb (won our Open 25 TT three times). Great memories of great times. I would be pleased to hear from anyone, even those whose names I have forgotten.
