KIRBY FAMILY c.1880 - 1919 - In and around Aston/Warwickshire

Good afternoon. Im currently researching my family from Birmingham with very little information. Ive obviously researched on ancestory/find my past etc. My grandmother Violet Ann KIRBY was born c.1917 in the Birmingham area and moved down to Essex and married my grandfather George Ernest Norton in 1939. She passed away in 1964 after giving birth to my father. We understand that she was born to a Thomas George Kirby and Mary Kirby (maiden name not known), Thomas passed away before she was married (believed to be c.1929) and we know nothing about Mary. We believe that they had strong links to Aston and were believed to be quite poor.

Siblings of Violet are believed to be Albert Kirby, Archiebald, Leslie, Horace and Evelyn all born between 1904 and 1919.

Any knowledge or information from any potential family members would be great as we really are at a dead end.

Thanks in advance

had a quick look but so i cant find a birth for a violet ann kirby 1917 in birmingham...if you know who violets parents were i take it you have her birth cert

A bit elusive but possibly mother's name was Mary Thornton. Some children appear to be registered (Archibald, Leslie, Elvine) but not all (Horace or Violet).

Not sure of much.

Can't see a marriage between them. In 1921 Archibald (Smethwick) and Leslie (Coleshill) appear to be inmates of different institutions.

Thought these names seemed familiar...

and me mark...i know the name kirby is well known in the aston newtown area but do not know if they are the same family

No, I've possibly found her on the 1921 census with parents and Horace & Elvine but can't see a birth registration for her or Horace.
mark i dont have full access to the 21 so could you give me the address of where they were living please...thank you

On the census they appear to be at 102 Phillips St, though they don't seem to be there on any ER.

This is all fantastic. I did read the other Kirby thread before hand but I dont think it relates to this Kirby family. What institutions were they at @

What institutions was this? I did read that some of the Children went to Aston Workhouse?

Part of the thread is certainly the same family as I found Violet and her family at Phillips St in 1921 previously, though I don't mind looking again.

In 1921 Archibald appears to be at the Monyhull Colony, Kings Heath and Leslie is in a home in Marston Green, possibly Middlemore.

I was in the police mounted branch in the 1970's and there was a Keith Kirby stationed on the mounted also he would have been in his 40's
