Kings Norton Bowling Club

S.Stonehouse

proper brummie kid
Does anybody have any information about this Bowls Club. I see online it never reopened after Covid and the building is now in disrepair. Are all the Roll Call boards still inside or have they been archived anywhere? My grandfather was a member prior to his death in 1969.

If you look them up here there seem to be 3 people named who are listed as "active" (as opposed to resigned) under "people". I would write and ask.

Hopefully they still live at the same address. Do let us know the outcome.
Janice, the secretary did get back in touch, so thank you for your suggestion. The roll call boards are still in the club house but as the building is now in a bad state of repairs, their condition is unknown. The secretary remembers my grandfather and uncle, both of whom were members there. There are no records but she will look through her personal photos.

That is good to know although sad to hear that the condition of the boards is unknown. Do please let us know if she manages to come up with any photos.

I presume this is the Kings Norton Bowling Club that was on Wychall Lane?

After shutting down it was subsequently raided in 2021 by the police who found it being used as a cannabis farm…

After this it was entered by people who like to explore and photograph abandoned buildings and they took numerous pictures shown here…

Two of them show “Roll Call” type lists (trophy winners over the years) as I have attached.

They didn’t look in too bad condition back then so it might be worth a try to see if anyone can help you gain legal access to the building to retrieve them all (maybe the secretary you spoke to?)

Hope this is of some help, Happy New Year everybody
