Viv I think the lower pic is later than the 60's Wher the first tree on the corner is in the 60's The Hungry Man Pub/hotel used to be next to that coming toward the camera was that part of the Hall of memory that's been moved to the Garden of Rest by St Thaomas scool Granville StreetA view of King Alfred's Place with people queuing near the entrance to Bingley Hall in 1931.

It certainly is different Viv from the days I was a kid, I see the Bingley Hotel Having work done with the scaffold outside in pic 1Adding to post #2, the photo is dated 1928 and attributed to J W Steele. (Source: Library of Birmingham). It's looking towards Broad Street, a totally unrecognisable view today.
