Kibius Gilbert, Christened 6 June 1813, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicester..son of William and Elizabeth Gilbert.
married Mary Susannah Gisborne, 30 June 1842, Mancetter, Warwick,
1841 Kibuis, 25, Baker, Mancetter
1851 Ribins, Baker, Long Street, Atherstone
1861 Kibins, Master Baker, Long Street
1871 Kibiens, 61, Baker, Long Street
1881 Kibiens, Retired Baker, All Saints Street
Died aged 71, in 1884.

Looks like he baked an awful lot of bread !!

Explains his name - after his Village - one way to remember your heritage!

He could afford a nice headstone after making all that dough in his lifetime!
He presumably retired to Brum, where his son in law, the accountant invested it all for him!

Makes a change retiring to Brum - most retire from Brum to Weston super Mud..

Didn't Micheal Wood do a telly series last year on Kibworth - 3 hamlets making a large village? carenza lewis (x Time Team) was with him she lives there.
They followed the village from 1066 to present, showing some of the families who had lived there througout - I wonder if Kibius got a mention as the local baker??

It would be an interesting snippett for their local history society.

You are right about the tv series, I just had a look on Google. There is a good website for Kibworth. I don't think Kib's parents were very popular with him as I can't find any other folk labelled with that name, so he obviously didnt want to make it a traditional family name..can't say as I blame him for that though !! I can't see any mention of him on the site but as he was in Mancetter by 1841 he may have started his Baking career there ...??
 
Strange the coincidences in the cemetery my gt grandfather buried in Key Hill came from Lutterworth and he was also a baker. I would have loved to have seen the programme on Kibworth I always seem to miss interesting stuff.

Well done Lindyloo for finding him I only managed 1861. I wonder is there an address in Long Street I could pop up and have a look as most of the buildings there are quite old.
 
Wendy, in 1881, the house schedule was 21, but it doesnt give a number. I would think it would be close to a "yard" that would be behind the main buildings, that up until the 1960's (according to the Friends of Atherstone site) once had very small houses in them (1 up, 1 down) On the census it was close to Old House Yard. If you have access to FMP he is under Kibins Gilbert b.1810.
 
Looks like the Kibworth Local History site does not have contact details for sending emails to.
They may be interested to know we have Kibius her - they may investigate his earlier days - I see from their publications list - there is still a Gilbert there!
 
I have heard back from my wortk colleague. He didn't personally know who to contact, but he suggested that the best place for information was
