Hello all - I discovered this site whilst reaearching my family history - Keeling. I have got as far back as John Keeling, husband of Sarah and who had several children, the first of which was William George Keeling. Information from CLDS record William George's Christening as being 27th Feb 1837 at Saint Martin.

I have been unable to find John or Sarah any further back than the 1851 Census. John is recorded as being from Derby, Sarah from Walsall. I wondered if there is anything in the records with any more detail so I can reserach further?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards, Tom Keeling

If you check the batch number below the baptism of William George Keeling you will find that he was not the eldest child of John and Sarah, they had a daughter Emily who although born in 1830 was baptised the same day as William George.

1841 census Kealing family(misspelt)
Stafford street,Walsall,Staffordshire

John Kealing age 30 Tailor
Sarah age 30
Emily 10
William 5
John 3
George 3 months
wife sarah is the only one born in the county.

A John Keeling married Sarah Paine(Payne?)
2nd November 1829 ST. Matthew Walsall, perhaps worth getting one of the younger childrens birth certificate to verify.

These two were baptised on the same day.
William George Keeling bap 27/2/1837 born 2/2/1836 Emily Keeling bap 27/2/1837 born 30/9/1830. Father John mother Sarah abode Swallow Street, fathers occupation Tailor.

Just to say thanks again - I ordered George Keeling's birth certificate and it confirms Sarah Keeling's maiden name as Paine. Thank you for the tip there!
