Should Children Witness Childbirth? Why not? a story from a mother to be.
Due to a power shortage at the time, only one paramedic responded to my call of going into labour.
The house was quite dark, so the paramedic asked Kate my 3-year old daughter "to hold the flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he delivered the baby"
Very diligently,Kate did as she was asked
I pushed and pushed, and after a little while Connor was born.
The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry.
The paramedic then thanked Kate for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year old what she thought about what she had witnessed?
(Kate quickly responded) " He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place Smack him again"

Dennis
Shame on you
What will that new member OISIN think of us all

It must happen everyday Dennis I'Ve read cases in the paper etc:
I never did but we all have a choice.
My Mom had us all in the front room in Newtown Row
My Sister and me 1938 & 1936 my younger one in in 1947

What a lovely story Dennis :D

I'd like to say I watched Alf, but I was too busy :D

I was in the next bedroom when my sister was born - very frightened.

It's okay for kids but I don't think it's a fitting thing for a father to witness.

Another fine mess..

Well I've watched a baby being born...never again..
It was like an explosion in a Jam factory.

Too much...

:D I had both my babies as easy as falling of a log, even laughed with the staff. However while watching my Daughter give birth to her eldest I fainted... it was the heat in the room of course.

Chris :)

Just read that to my 12 year old daughter....thought it was hilarious  :2funny:

when my younger brother and sister were born I think dad had set up a bed in the front room for when the midwife visited, and I think it happened when I was in bed.
It certainly did in '64 when my younger sister was born, as I remember dad coming upstairs to get me and my brother, and led us downstairs telling us about a surprise.
I was the only one born in hospital (Heathfield Rd).

Nothing like that in our house, we were sent off with Uncle George & Aunt Mabel (They had a car) for a day trip to Worcester when our youngest Sister was born 1947. :o

Uncle George opened a Butchers shop later on Witton Circle name of Windle anyone remember it? Whats this got to do with it you might ask, well it is a Forum and you nice people always remind me of nice  things. :)

Anyway get on with it right 8) keep the reminders coming  O0

Kids just say the funniest things, My grandkids have me in bits some of the things they come out with.

baby's birth

I thought that was very funny. My big sister had her first daughter at my Mums house, she made so much noise screaming and shouting it put me off childbirth, well i was only ten.:Aah:
