Joseph Lester 1887

Unfortunately, desperate times then, not condoning the actions but they must have been desperate to commit a horrible crime like this, apparently it was a common place occurrence in those days that children starved to death, this case was probably more highlighted due to the connection with Joseph Lester,

The 1891 census does list a Jane Lester of the right age in Coleshill at the "Cottage Homes for Pauper Children from the Birmingham Workhouse"

Her sister, Mary Ann, is possibly there as well. Age slightly out. They had a brother, Samuel, who was alive in 1891. They are a little elusive.
