This cartoon may mean something to our tram experts, but it's way over my head. What I find curious, however, is that the conductor is standing on hay. It's obviously sending a message of some sort (country roads/route ?)

Joseph Farndale CBE KPM (27 April 1864 – 8 August 1901) was a British police officer who served as Chief Constable of Birmingham Police from 1882 until illness forced his resignation in 1900.
