Jonathon Newey, metal caster

I am reading a book about the Birmingham mint and it mentions several times the names of employees sent overseas to help assemble and train locals how to operate the minting machinery. Jonathon Newey might be a distant relative of mine as the Newey's appear to be well established in Brum in earlier times. He was sent all the way to Burma along with other men from Heaton's to go overland with a mule train carrying minting machinery all the way to Mandalay palace where they built a new mint, also sent to France at Marseilles for a similar purpose in 1852, and sent to Burma 1865

Is there any trace of him in records from around 1850 onwards ?
