John Alfred Cameron and family

Hi

Can any one help please.

My husbands Great Grandfather John Alfred Cameron was a pub land lord at The Bell, Phillips Street, Birmingham in 1909.
After 1909, he was landlord at 39 Cardigan Rd, I have no name for the establishment.

I have been told that his father John Miller Cameron and his wife Deborah also ran a boarding house for variety artists.
He also lived in Cardigan Rd.

Any info on Camerons would be a help.

John Miller Cameron had 10 children!

By 1911, it appears that John and Deborah's daughter and son-in-law,Ellen and Ernest Cochrane had taken over the boarding house.
Ernest is listed as head of the household.
There are 2 vaudeville acts lodging at 74 Cardigan Street, Max and Maud Erard and May Brennan.
In 1901 Edith and Florence Ogilvie Steward, variety artistes, were staying there along with a number of "ordinary" workers including future son-in-law,Ernest and his brother Alfred.
The house had 7 rooms

Thanks very much for the information. I have the 1901 Census for John Miller Cameron but not the 1911.
I will have to look at the 1911 census.

Also thanks for the name of the public house.

Hi,

John Miller Cameron was my Great Great Grandad if you search on ancestry.com for LisaMary's Tree & Cameron you will find my treee which has got quite a lot of info on our branch of the Cameron's. I am also in touch with Nicholas Cameron who is also on ancestry and he is the son of Frank Alfred, son of John Alfred. He's posted a lot of pictures of your branch of John Alfred etc.

My Dad remebers he also had the Globe pub in the 1930's. We are decendents of Charles Edward Cameron, John Alfred's brother.

We are stuck in Scotland to get right back to roots at the moment as John Millers Grandfather Sgt John Cameron is in the Army when Charles, John Miller's Dad, was born.

There are also other tree's on ancestry from our side of the family.

My cousin and are are planning to go for a trawl around witton cemetry shortly to find John Miller & Deborah's graves etc.

Best Regards

Lisa
