Hi,

Im looking for information relating to the family of one Barry E Jobbins, born in Birmingham in 1943.

Barry's father was Edward, I think, 'cos he's also been mentioned as a Harry and a Henry. Barry's mum was Hilda, maiden name Haden. Edward and Hilda married in 1937.

Barry had an elder sister called Maureen, born in 1937. He also had a younger brother and sister Kevin and Linda, both born in Meriden in the late 50's.

Barry married Yvonne Baston in 1965 in Birmingham, Solihull?

I would appreciate any information relating to these Jobbins. I have found plenty all over England but can't link any of them to Barry until I find out about his father, grandfather, etc, etc...

Harry E Jobbins -m- Hilda Haden Mar qtr 1937 Birmingham Vol 6d Page 535

Children born with Haden as mother's maiden name:

Maureen S. Sept qtr 1937 Birmingham
Barry E. Mar qtr 1943 Birmingham
Kevin S. Jun qtr 1956 Meriden
Linda J. Mar qtr 1958 Meriden.

if the birth is the correct one then his parents were charles henry jobbins and florence guest who married in 1913 apr-jun in kings norton 6d 199

charles henry jobbins and florence jobbins were living at 36 marshall street south, sparkbrook in 1920 and 1925 and 1930

in 1939 henry edward jobbins and elsie hilda jobbins were living at 88 blake lane, small heath.

in 1950 henry e jobbins and hilda jobbins living 6 hernall croft, sheldon

I've also checked out Florence Guest, but not knowing for sure who Henry/Harry/Edward's parents were I daren't say...

the best way to be sure is to send for the marriage certificate as detailed by suemalings of harry e jobbins to hilda haden. this will have their fathers names on and occupations :) it costs £7 but well worth it to be sure you have the correct family

I found Hilda Haden easily. Born Birmingham in Spring 1915, daughter of William Henry Haden and Emily Dillon. I can't remember seeing her as an Elsie Hilda though...

elsie hilda was probably her full name but she must have dropped the elsie in later years.

it seems strange that she is listed as elsie hilda with charles henry jobbins in 1939 and just hilda with charles henry jobbins in 1950

I'll get searching. I think Hilda's dad, William Henry Haden, was killed in WW1. I think he was in the South Stafforshire Regiment, 8th Battalion. His number was 19997. Have you found the same info?
