James Hall gunmaker

I think there has to be an error but I don't know which page is correct. That I think would be resolved by ordering the marriage cert from GRO but not giving the page reference and asking them to search citing Jun qtr 1841 and both names. Registered at West Bromwich, Staffordshire.
(Parts of Birmingham came under West Brom back then. I know Handsworth did).

I had been thinking more about two sons of James Hall.

James Hall born 3rd Jan 1817 baptized at St Martins in Birmingham 22 of Nov 1830
and
James Hall born 22 Mar 1827 baptised at St Martin Birmingham 16th of April 1827

I could not figure out which James Hall it could be that married a Eliza Sparrye.
I have not been able to locate their GRO marriage registration or Parish Marriage transcript.

Eliza Sparrow is the maiden name also listed on the death certificate of her child Frank in Australia.

James is listed as a Weighing Machine / Scale beam maker from the 1851 England Census in Birmingham and considered born about 1820.

1851 England Census - Steward St (weighing machine maker) Age 31
1861 England Census - Wheeler St (weighing machine maker) Age 47?
1871 England Census - Water St (Scale beam weighing machine maker) Age 37?
1881 England Census - Northwood St (weighing machine maker) 61
1891 England Census - Northwood St (scale beam + weighing machine maker) 70

Children are present in all of the censuses except for 1891. The age seems incorrect in the 1861 and 1871 census, or this could be an identical family?

It seems unlikely to be the James born in 1827... due to the fact he was baptised the following month.

What do you think about this?

It is quite challenging to distinguish which James it could be!

on the 61 census his age is 41 and on the 71 census its 51...its just awkward to read the ages if a line is drawn through it or if the writing is smudged or badly written

That again points to the James born in 1817 as being the one who married Eliza.
He is 70 on the 1891 so again pointing to 1817 birth
Remembering that exact year of birth and age was less important back then. So people often didin't really know when they were born.
