Iommi family

You've omitted a couple that you had on your other list.

There is no birth reg. for Adolfo and there doesn't seem to be enough gap between the births of Luigiuccia and Peter for him.

It seems likely that all the Iommi's (various spellings) on the 1911 census are related. Peter Jommi, listed as a lodger of Nicolas Tavolieri and Nicola Yommi, listed as a cousin of Guiseppe (the model) appear to be brothers, the sons of a Gaetano Iommi.

There is one more Iommi who lived in Bham but doesn't appear on the censuses, an Eleuterio Iommi who married an Eleonora Nardone in 1904. Sadly she died in 1905 and he emigrated to Philadelphia in 1907.

He appears to have re-married a Rosa Cerrone. They had at least 2 children - Eleonora in 1909 and Michael in 1913. There are a few more mentions of Michael - marriage and death - but nothing for the rest, possible due to name variations.

In this news cutting from September 1902, Felice Iommi gives his address as 3 back of 21 Fox Street. I can't find him or any mention of his address in the 1901 census. However, his alleged assailant, an ice cream maker, was there at 2 back of 22 Fox Street.

After Musolini declared war on Britain in June 1940, thousands of Italians were classified as 'enemy aliens' and interned. This happened to Giuseppe Iommi b.1882 (the artist's model) and his cousin Nicola Iommi b.1887 (also artist's model, ice cream vendor and labourer). Giuseppe was released in September 1940 but Nicola's application for release was turned down and he remained at an internment camp in the Isle of Man until his release in July 1943. Despite this he applied for a British Naturalisation Certificate that was granted in 1948. He is listed as Nickoli Iommi, a confectioner, in the 1955 Kelly's at 169 Booth Street. He is on the electoral register (1955-1960) at 75 Maxwell Avenue Handsworth with a Maria Iommi. He died in Birmingham on 21 July 1978.

A few later a probable nephew of Ferdinando married Loreda/Nellie Musticone, who was a relative of Felice and possibly the 'niece' that registered Felice's death.

Yes, that's her.

Her marriage was before Felice's death, so she would have been a Secondini by then but I can't see any other N Musticone it could be.

Thanks, I think I was confusing which death was registered by the 'niece' but the death being Giuseppe's then as you say it fits.

And if we take the relationship as true then that would suggest again that Giuseppe and N Musticone's mother - Maria, nee Iommi - were siblings, though I can't be sure.

It is very confusing with repetition of names.
It would be interesting to see the marriage cert of that marriage you found of a Felice and Angelina. To see if it was our pair or not.
I wonder if they married just after they came to England. I haven't found them on the 1901 census and wondered if it was because they weren't here then.

I can't see it not being them but definitely, to see his father. I suspect it will be Giovanni.

There are 2 other Iommi marriages that would be interesting also - Eleuterio, Jun 1904 Bham and Frank, Mar 1915 Bham, again to see their fathers.

There is a birth listed for a Gaetano Tommi in Arce 1844, the son of a Giovanni Tommi and a Domenico Irpilio. I suspect that Felice may also be their son and that there is likely to be at least one more brother.

So are Nicola and Giuseppe the artist model you would say siblings and their father Gaetano Iommi ? This would make sense as they're not Felices children, so perhaps that is Felices brother? Also Eleutrio, went to America like you say as I have a cousin over there Kaitlyn and her grandad was a Michael so we figured we were related but we couldn't determine how Eleutrio was related to me but it was her great grandad. so it all makes perfect sense.

No, I think they are cousins as it says on the 1911 census. It was Nicola and Peter Iommi that I thought were brothers, both sons of Gaetano, though I'm not so sure now because I think Gaetano's son of that name may have died young.

Giuseppe, the artist's model, would appear to be the son of an unknown Iommi, who was perhaps a brother of Gaetano and Felice maybe.

A lot of speculation.

Wow this is amazing info. I had the two documents but no context behind it.

As far as I am aware burials at St Peters ceased in the late 1800s so not likely to be of use.

From newspaper article about the exhumations

Have just emailed Olton Friary again - found a dfferent email address so fingers crossed.

I think you have listed a Giuseppe as Felice's father. Is that something you know or just a supposition?
So remember I said I spoke to an historian, she’s British but married an Italian man , she currently lives in sora. I showed her I had up to felice on my family tree and that I couldn’t get anymore info above him, she obviously has access to things perhaps we wouldn’t, she came back to me and said it would be 4 hours of work but she has located Felice parents/siblings and all his children and that these are not available online, only in Italy in their registry office I’m guessing. She would give me all the documentation to go with it. She wanted £350 for 4 hours of work. During this conversation she mentioned that Felice dad was called Giuseppe.
It was almost like a teaser. So I’d want to know more.
But ultimately I didn’t take her up on the offer as of yet. So I guess I cannot be sure that’s correct. Only going by what she told me. What do you think?

Ok, not sure she'd have a reason to lie but without seeing it for myself or finding something to corroborate it there would always be a doubt

A much cheaper option would be to purchase the possible marriage certificate for them in Bham 1900, though would you learn as much from it.
