Hello, i could do with help confirming marriage @ st martins 24th june 1821 of WILLIAM PACKER, ELIZA COX, i think they are my 2x great grandparents living in, siston gloucestershire after marriage
william i have found baptized in siston gloucestershire but cannot find an eliza cox who on the 1841 census was listed as born not of this county, many many thanks if anyone can help

hello old harry, there wasnt much info on the marr. certs before 1837 but this is what is recorded.

william packer of this parish bachelor and eliza cox of this parish spinster were married in this church by banns on 24th june 1821.

william packer signed his name and eliza signed with a cross. the witnesses were samuel and ann mellors.

it may be that eliza was born birmingham where they married but then moved to her husbands home county of gloucestershire. i presume you found william packer in the 1851 listed as widower so eliza had died. there are a couple of deaths of eliza packer, 1841 jul-sep keynsham glouc. and 1844 chipping sodbury, glouc.

thankyou for the information you are correct that eliza packer died and i have found from southglos burial index that she was buried on the 8th aug 1841 age 40 in the parish of Kingswood Holy Trinity while living in Mangotsfield south gloucestershire,
If at all possible iwould really like to find where she was born i can only assume that she was born somewhere in or near birmingham if they were married by banns would it give any info as to where they lived

unfortunately no details of parents or address were given before 1837. i cant find anything on the igi site either. i would presume eliza was born bham or surrounding area because they were married at st. martin and as you said on the 1841 she was in glouc. and not born in county. im not sure how you can progress from here though especially as cox is quite a common name. all the best, shera

Hello shera,
Thankyou for looking at my problem it was very much appreciated
All the very best
Harry
