Hi All, Can anyone help please, i'm looking for information and old photo of a company called ' Cope Allman & Co who were based in Icknield Square Hockley.
around 1908 to 1915 . My uncle was training to be a silversmith there until he went to war in Gallipoli and sadly did not return. He was just 21.

hi...just googled the company and i cant see where it says they were silversmiths...info suggests they were an engineering company..could i ask where you got the info from that your uncle worked there as a silversmith..click on link below

Hi Lyn, I'm not entirely sure where the silversmith came from and am open to it not being totally correct. My search on google fount that in 1914 the company was an engineering company and non-ferrous tube maker? The main thing is trying to find any records and photographs if any of the company and Icknield Square around 1914.

do you know where william lived if not i will try and find him in birmingham on the 1911 census unless you have already done that ? oh do you have his parents names and where he was born..the more info you can give us the better....thanks

Hi Lyn, , Clearview stoves have no connection whatever to do with William George Derrington. It's just the advert on the page.
William lived at 265 Heath Street and his parents were William Derrington and Alice Derrington ( Tynan).
My Mother, Alice May Derrington was his sister.

Other siblings were : Charles Leslie Derrington, Flora Moore ( Derrington) Evelyn Corbett ( Derrington) Edna Derrington, and Ivy Robinson
( Derrington)

William George Derrington was born 1893 and volunteered in 1915 KIA Gallipoli 12th August 1915.
I was lucky enough to visit the Helles Memorial in Gallipoli and found his name engraved there.
He was just 21.

The census is probably where I got his occupation from.
