Hurlingham road Kingstanding

Thanks WallyB and Goffy for your replies, I knew it was a long shot, but we have had so many success stories on this Forum I thought it worth a try.

WallyB, Thanks for that, but you have me confused now, Its difficult to remember exactly the time scale of these events, but the way I remember it is, I was mates with Victor Kirby at the time when we both left Kingsland Road School to go to Birchfield Road School, and that was around 1954.
Their house, I may have got the number confused, was the last house in the block of 4 houses that lie at an angle on the right hand side as you enter Esher road. His dad had a car, a Ford pilot, I think. when the family moved there I have no idea. Does this ring any bells with you?

Goffy, I think I left Kingsland Rd in 1940. I think our age difference makes it possible that some of the houses had changed ownship. I am attaching a picture of Esher Rd.

Thanks for your map WallyB, Victor Kirby lived in the house next to the one you have marked up as number 3, if you left Kingsland rd in 1940 , then there is a considerable age difference here, I hope my memory banks stay as active as yours over the next ten years or so, thanks again, I think we should get back to thread now?

Hi

My dad used to live on Esher Road. He was born in 1938 and lived their until his thirties. His name was David Hart and his parents were Ada and Percy.

Does anyone remember him - i am trying to put a memories book together for his 70th birthday in June and any info or names would be great.

Thanks

Walked down Hurlingham road 4 times a day 35 years ago. My neighbours daughter lives there now and can't wait to leave. Unfortunately things change. For the worse more often than not. My twins went to Kingsthorne school then moved to Sundridge in the junior school. We live in Dunedin and that's in the middle of both schools. Can anyone remember the teachers names at either school. GGJ.

Gee Gee Jean

When did your children attend Kingsthorne; i went there from 1982 when John Foster was the head. I remember Mrs Jones, Mrs Hurcombe, Mrs Foster, Mr Neil, Mr Hopkins and Mrs Everill.

It was a good school then and set me on the right path educationally. Dont know much about it now though.

Teh. My twins went to Kingsthorne school in 1971. Mrs Raven was the head of infants Mrs Jones was deputy and Mrs Hurcome and Mrs Cartwright were there then. They couldn't stand Mrs Jones as she had too many pets. Mrs Hurcome and Mrs Cartwright were lovely. They moved to Sundridge 3 or 4 years later as soon as there were two places. They loved it there and it was much closer to where we lived. I will try and sort some photo's out of Kingsthorne. TTFN. Jean.

I remember your cousins, Dee. They were older than me, but lived four doors away, next to Mr & Mrs Gardner...number 54 I think?
