Why a 'secret store' ? Surely the finds should go to the museum nearest to the site where they were uncovered. The article suggests 'ownership' is in question - not in my mind.

Fascinated by the gladiators tag found in a vessel with cremated remains, despite there being no arena nearby.

I would guess that probably important items will be distributed, but proper evaluation will take time, and until they have been assessed, it is best to try and ensure their safety. Some historic sites have had holes dug in them by criminals hoping to find something valuable, and , if the digging has already been done, then ..................
