It has to be after 1960 because one of the advertisements is for Padawax shoe polish which wasn't on the market until that date. Early to mid sixties is my guess.at a guess late 50s to middle 60s

I too had ancestors living in hospital st. My great grandad, William Toon, I would love to see pics, sadly he died in 1918 in action, whilst in France. Leaving my great grandma Leah, with her 3 sons, my grandad samuel Toon and my great uncles, Albert and william Toon.ha peter them were the days all right. glad the pic was ok. i had ancestors in 1903 back of 46 new john st west.

Vivienne, a great picture but I'm a little confused. Is it an Ansells pub or a Mitchell & Butlers? It seems to be advertising both.Couldn’t find a thread for this pub; St George’s Tavern in Hospital Street/Tower Street, so posting it here. This was it in 1961. If you know of a thread, please let m3 know. Thanks. Viv.
My ancestors lived here early 1900. Would like to find out what number
Thank you so much, was my grandad on the census- George Griffiths or was it just Alice? Which census have you used and how can I access it? Many thanksListed at 97 Hospital St on the 1939 register.
Wow, who were your grand parents Lyn? I’m sure they would have known each other as the community was a close one from what my mum told us.hi tracy ...in 1939 my gt nan lived at no 79 so a very good chance that she knew your grandparents

Thanks Mike, that sounds interesting.Having seen the 1939 register result I rechecked electoral roll for no 97 , and From 1922-1939 George Griffiths was at no 97 Hospital St. Alice May Griffiths was also there from 1927-1939
Def need to do more digging to find out what the movement was. Thanks for looking.Alice & William Francis Griffiths are listed as atb199 hospital Street in the 1922 electoral rolls, but not in the 1920 or 1925 ones
Thank you, I will look at those sites. The 1939 register wasn't a census as such, there are far less details on it.
You can access it through Ancestry or findmypast.
Not sure, there's a Charles listed (b1883 married) which could be a mistake. I can only see the transcript not the actual record.
