That certainly is my dad and his first wife, who died at an early age. He was left looking after 4 children, 2 boys and two girls the eldest just into his teens. He then married my mom, Lily Croome, I think about 1934 I reckon. Then along came my sister in 1936 and me in 1944.

I, like you couldn't find anything on the 1901 census, but I thought it was just me being pretty useless.

I agree wholeheartedly with Wendy, you are a star researcher Alberta and a massive help. Thank you sincerely.

Ron,how do your feel about getting your Dads birth certificate?
.
It will have all the details needed to find his parents and hopefully him on the 1901.

Cost approx £7.

Hanley Register Office in the Town Hall will give you info.(01782 235260)

(Incidently it's where I got married in 1997)

Thanks Alberta

Will do that and thanks for the number.

You're from that part of the world then?

Ron

My mother was born there,my Dad and I were both born in Cheadle Staffs so when I married for the second time as all my relatives live up there I decided to get married there.Cheadle does not have a Register office so Hanley Town hall it was.

Looking forward to seeing the details from the certificate,I hate it when a census entry cannot be found.
