Holy Trinity Church, Smethwick

I wlli let Rev David know tomorrow that George Craven is listed as a curate at Holy Trinity Smethwick in 1915 Kelly's directory. So sadly it seems the memorial no longer exists
 
and as george craven is listed in the 1915 kellys directory as curate of holy trinity smethwick we do have the correct church jan...so i think reading the rev goulds reply to your letter we must assume that any plaque/memorial to george craven has been lost...

Thank you Jan and Lyn for your determination in getting a response and finding out the fact that The Rev George Edward Craven no longer has a memorial at the church. I wonder if Rev David would be interested in trying to raise funds to rectify this? It may be a little late but could either of you suggest perhaps a mention in his sermon on 8th December [as George died on 7th December 1918 and is buried in Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece].

Glad I was able to get a reply even if it was what we didn't want to hear. George E Craven will not be forgotten, he is on war memorials at Durham School and his college in Oxford, even if there is no memorial at Smethwick.
Lyn and I feel that any request - for further mention either on the WW1 memorial already at the church (if there is space as in the picture I have seen it looks full) or a reference in a sermon - would be best coming from you as you will be able to fill in more backgrond information than we have. If you do then please keep us posted.
