Rebuilt since the time of the engraving. The address is 41 New Street and continues round into Cannon Street. It was a cloth supplier but doesn't seem to have offered a tailoring service. Later, it was a Kardomah coffee house. Now it's Charles Tyrwhitt's.

I found this from a website....

Black lions do not exist; dark maned ones are actually deep brown, with no evidence of true melanism found in lions.

Or was it sea lion skin ?

At first I thought it was name for a special fabric but I think maybe they were supplying lion skin rugs with dark manes.

My partner thinks it will be Black Panther skins as they were thought to be lions.
