Historic England has over 7000 images relating to Birmingham. These may be used for non-commercial purposes with attribution.

Images can be embedded- but not I think on this forum.
But worth searching for old buildings and locations.

There's a fine photo of the old and now demolished (in 1965) Birmingham and Midland Institute (not the current building). This screenshot gives an impression.

An interesting overview of the 1950s. There's a lot been said before about the physical struggle of families and children about housing conditions, health, and education. But it's not often that the psychological and emotional aspects are truly raised. What I mean is the psychological effects on families of, for instance, the impact of WW2, uncertainty and the isolation generated by new housing solutions. I was glad to see that this film touches on those areas. It's very easy to underestimate how much of this is still carried forward, even today, in our values and expectations.
