Re: Bertha victoria hinton

Astonian, there is a Bertha Hinton aged 8 with John 1841, Isabella 1851; John 1872, Florence 1874 and Bertha born 1883 living 30 Sutton Street?

Re: Bertha victoria hinton

Astonian there is a Bertha Victoria Hinton B1887 2nd quarter - Kings Norton, so the one I have sent previously is not the one.

Re: Bertha victoria hinton

Astonian I can only find a birth for Bertha Victoria - there are a couple of Bertha Hintons but as I say not Bertha Victoria, but I will continue to look. Do you have any more info - names of siblings or parents that could help?

Re: Bertha victoria hinton

Astonian, there is indeed a marriage for Bertha Hinton marrying Jelfs 1st quarter 1916 - Birmingham.

In 1907 there is a marriage for Berth Hinton to a George Farrell 4th quarter 1907 - Kings Norton.

There seems to be a lot of Hintons within the Kings Norton area.

Astonian, in a post earlier this year I believe Ladylinda gave you info about this lady who was your Grandmother.
Bertha Victoria Hinton born 1887 daughter of Walter and Catherine Hinton, Walter was a policeman and Catherine his wife died in 1890
leaving him with 3 daughters Beatrice, Edith and Bertha.
Bertha Victoria Jelf died in 1953.

Sorry to correct you Carolina but the Bertha Hinton who married in 1907 married Sydney Penzer, they went to live in New Zealand but returned because she died in Birminghan 1926 still called Penzer.
On Free BMD the names are arranged in alphabetical order and not in couples, there are 2 couples on this page Bertha and Ernest and George Farnell/Farrell married Sarah A Rowley

Alan rest assured your grandmother only married once and your mother Joyce was the child of Ernest Jelf.

Alan see Post No 7 on this thread for your grandmother. Regarding stepbrother Phillip, what was his surname?

I had an Aunt, named LUCY HINTON, and she had a son called Ronnie, and a son called Billy and one called John. Her daughters were Violet & Hilda & Irene. They lived in ( I think) Small Heath, or Balsall Heath, in the late forties and fifties. Lucies brother was Jack Hill, who was well known in the Rag Market and the Digbeth area. He was born on the Black Patch in Smethwick. I am just throwing this out there to see IF anyone has any knowledge at all of the family? Jack was my Grandad.
