Highgate area churches

Would someone be able to tell me please, the church nearest to Angelina Street circa 1880? I need to track down baptisms, but not got much of a clue about the churches in that area. Would it have been St Lukes?

Hi Shortie

I suppose it would depend on the faith, Churches in the locality were St Anne's (RC) Alcester St, St Albans Conybere St, St Katherine's Mission Stanhope St and Church of Christ Charles Henry St. I think they were all nearer than St Lukes.

Thank you Phil - I did not think I would have so many to choose from. They were CofE, I think I will have to try St Albans for baptisms, at least to start with. I cannot actually visualise wheren Angelina Street was exactly, I know it was near Bristol Street Motors site, so St Lukes was the first to come to mind. Many thanks

Hi again Shortie

Here a map of the area in the 50's so you can get your bearings, as you can see the churches are marked.

Hi Phil

Thank you so much. I don't have an Alan Godfrey that covers that area so I am especially pleased with this. I did think it was nearer to Wrentham Street than it is, it makes the picture much more clear.

Brilliant.
