There is an Alice Hick, who was listed as a grocer at 16 Beach St on the 1939 register.

She was the mother of an Alice (and James & Thomas) who was married previously? To a Harold Whitaker?

In 1939 she is listed at 15 Beach St with 2 daughters, separate from her (1st?) husband.

Not sure if I have the correct people.

1939 at 16 Beach street
Thomas Hick b 1882, assistant shopkeeper
Alice Hick b 1882 , General grocery business

at 15 Beach street,, Alice Whitaker b 1904 (Alice Hick married Harold Whitaker 1928)
daughters
Irene Whitaker 1929
June Whitaker 1933
Their father Harold Whitaker died late 1932., age 27

at 6 bk 18 beach street,
Mary E Fisher b 1887 widow,
Arthur 1909
Lilian 1914
Florence 1922
Albert 1923
Stanley 1926
( Mary E Hick married Arthur Stephen Fisher in 1908, he died in 1938 age 52)

I am presuming that Thomas Hick b 1882 was related to Mary E Fisher nee Hick b 1887.

The records often confuse because they show from one entry to the other the name Hick or Hicks

Hi my great grandmother was Alice Hick and great grandfather was Thomas Hick.
Their son Thomas Hick is my grandfather (my dads father)
My father Peter Thomas Hick now 87 , all from Ladywood . Lozells , grower street , wheeler street . Alice and Thomas had the shop my dad has memories of visiting there .

Hi Chezblue. Thanks for that, I suppose we must be cousins of some kind!. I have done some research into family history and have got back a fair way. Hick family originally from Pershore.

Yes they go right back and you are correct ‘originally ‘ from pershore if I have it correct on my family tree I have gone back as far as 1711. My dad at the moment of which we know if is one of the last remaining Hick(apart from his sons) so it’s great to hear from you and if you agree I am sure my dad would love to hear of any information you could share as I know he could share quite a lot . Looking forward to hearing back
