Henry Garner

Master Barmmie
“Started in 1914 by Henry Garner in Moseley, Birmingham the firm were importing some American-built trucks, but sold in this country under his own name, which grew to cover a range from 1% to 6ton. The first British-built Garner was not produced until 1925, when a 2ton model with a 24.8hp Dorman engine appeared.
New premises at Tyseley Birmingham] enabled production to be increased and a 1½ ton and 1¾ton chassis were placed on the market. However from 1931 they concentrated on heavier models and were taken over by Sentinel in 1933, then were resold to the Dodge organisation, before becoming independent again in 1937.
A few 2ton models were then produced, but the company ceased vehicle production completely at the outbreak of the war in 1939.”

I am looking for a picture of this Victorian building, numbered 120/122/124 Alcester Road, Moseley.
It was next door to the Prince of Wales pub, and was a motor car dealers premises which traded under the name of Henry Garner for about 50 years.
Unfortunately, the original building was demolished and replaced by a modern 4 storey block of flats.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

shame google st view did not go back another year as we may have seen garners before demo...this is from 2008

Garners and the associated buildings were demolished in the early 1960s and replaced by "Moneywise" fronting Alcester Road with offices above and a snooker hall at the back. Moneywise was a great emporium for bargains of all sorts. We were very sorry to see it go. That said it was a very ugly building and the apartment block that replaced it was much more attractive.
