Help With Trade On Census

Hi

We have a census form where we canot make out the the first word of the occupation. The name in question is 'John Rankin' shown as living at 10 Ferguson Street. Schedule 52.

'? House Keeper'.

Guys you are bang on. Linda has checked the Glasgow Post Office Directory and disovered that yes an 'Eating House' existed at that address. Yes Barrie Café is the most likely.

Without your suggestions we would not have been able to take that next step.

There were many different types of eating places. Here is a picture of the Old Tripe House in Well Street.

We thought you may like a look at No 10 Ferguson Street in 1963 shortly before it was demolished going by the state of other houses in the street.
