Rene Floyd 1952 is buried in section O grave no 742 which I assume is a public grave. Here is a map.
I have checked the indexes and the only other Floyd around the time was Sarah Floyd sadly no burial place registered the ref no is 99814 and date of burial is 1951. The records are difficult to sort out so I believe. Maybe a death certificate could confirm it's the right child. I am so sorry I can't help further this must be so difficult for you. If I can help further please ask.

Hi Pamela,as I explained on your blog. Renee would not have been stillborn but have lived a short time.
She is the only Floyd infant to die in Birmingham between 1951 and 1956 relating to this couple
There could have been a stillborn baby but they have a birth/death certificate that is not available to the public.
There was a Lorraine M Floyd 1955 but her mother was Arnold.
The Sarah Floyd who died in 1951 was an old lady of 84.

Pam, I am so pleased that you have found where your sister Rene is buried and that you will now be able to visit where she is buried. I have an aunt who died aged 5 months buried in a public grave in Key Hill cemetery. Unfortunately her name is not on the headstone but just knowing where she is wonderful. The last time I visited I took a few winter pansies in a flower pot and sank it into the ground by the headstone. I hope you enjoy your visit to Warstone Lane (I also have relatives buried there) - it is a lovely cemetery - thanks to volunteers and especially key hill brian (a member of this forum) who works very hard to keep it looking tidy.

thank you for your message, every one as been great with there help, alberta, suzanne, wendy, lynn, with out there help we would never of found out about renee,we have spent pounds on pay as you view credits, but mostly because we didnt know how to search, the forum is great and once again a big thank you to every one,

I have been in touch with another member of the forum (Shortie), who has kindly supplied me with a detailed plot plan of the section O so you can find the plot.
I have marked O 742 on the plan. It is on the border of of section R and L. Keep the plan in the orientation that I have sent it in (portrait, rather than landscape) and locate O 822 (Burton). Move 4 plots to the left and you will have the spot :)
If you need a bigger version, send me a message with your email address and I'll get it to you

I have added the approx position to the bigger plan to help you locate it.

owww thank you so much, were going tomorrow ,every one as been so helpful, we thank every one for takeing the time to help us , x were also going to go to birmingham registery office hopefully to get a birth certtificate to see when renee was born,

Hi Pam,

I posted (well Bernie did really!) a picture of the grave of my Husband's Grandmother, Eliza Pressdee, on the Warstone Lane thread. She is plot O 1048, which is close by, to help you count. I think 0 742 is a Public grave but at least you can find the place. Most of my relatives are in Public Graves but just knowing they are in Warstone and Key Hill is good.

rosie.

hello, just want to let you know my sister and i ,have been to the cematery the last 2 days, we have spent hours there we found the atkins grave but no way could we find the burton grave, by useing the map we think we may have found the spot but were not sure,we left a marker and some flowers, which was near to the back wall, we did go to the pen centre and seen brian but he was only able to give us the information we had ,but what a lovely gent, once again thank you for every one on the forum who as helped us as with out there help we would still be trying to find out were renee was,

I'm glad that you managed to go Pam - and that the maps were useful. Sounds like you found the right place to me; when I was looking at it, I hadn't really considered how close it would be to the back wall!

do you know if the graves towards the back wall would of been covered over only we only seen 2 markers for graves one a cross with brenda on and the other one a ring of poppys, we couldnt under stand why we couldnt find the burton grave ?? we just need to know if we have found the right spot,

A lot of the stones were covered over - I have a grave with 6 in it and it was covered in the 1950s/60s supposedly to make maintenance of the cemetery easier. The only way to be sure of the position is to find a 'known' plot and count plots across and up/down

Would you like me to pop round there tomorrow and take a look? I live locally, so I can come that way home about lunchtime.

that would be great if you could, and you dont mind, i cant get there tomorrow because i have vistors comeing from nottingham as it my birthday, as i live at bassetts pole ,i dont drive i couldnt get there and back in time, we have put a marker and some flowers if you could move them if were in the wrong place, when we know for sure were renee is we hope to put some thing more suitable, thank you for being so kind, pam x

HI Pam,

The grave is an unmarked one, it has burials from 1902, 1920, and many young and still borns from 1951/2. The Council reopened them in this period and 'topped' them up with all the youngsters and impoverished elderly during the 1950's before thowing the keys away and forgetting the place.
The grave is located on grass nearer to the footpath up from icknield st, just as it curves around the corner if I remember right. I have a pic taken from approxi, ately the location which I will try and load up.
I have to go the Registry office tomorrow to (finally) register the death of My Mother in Law, now the Coroner is satisfied - I'll try and pop in en route and put a stake in the ground.

Key Hill Brian (Not Brian jones at pen Room - He's another nice chap!)

The Folder (absently left behind and gone!) marks O942, O742 is 10 further along. All these graves were unmarked, and most reopened in the 1950's. the self seeded trees date from after that. We have cut them back to allow access - A year ago it was a 12ft dense jungle !

hi brian, thank you for all your help looking at the picture im sure were not far away, we only found out last week that we had a sister who must of lived for a short time to have a birth and death recorded, were now wondering why renee would be in a public grave, and why we always thought the 2 chirldren our mom lost were still born?? will we be able to put a cross or something on the grave or not, leslam offerd to go and have a look for us, which is so kind every one as been great, brian in the pen room is a lovely gent, made us so welcome, thank you again we will go to the cematery now again on friday, pam x
