Does anyone have any info on a pub called the Sampson and Lion? I think it was east birmingham way. Thanks John.

There's a 'Samson & Lion' on the corner of Yardley Green Road/Blakeland Street just up the road from Heartlands Hospital.... B9 5QF

Thanks folks, that sounds about right. Dont suppose anyone can tell me who ran the pub in 1969, I know its a long shot but I used to court the daughter of the landlord.

The 1969 Kellys lists John William Smitten. I take it you were smitten with her !!. Sorry foxbat, couldn't resist that.

Thats O.K. Mike I surely was smitten she was a lovely girl. I was 17 and driving a Mini Cooper at the time. I only saw her a few times and one night after taking her home I skided on some black ice and smashed the Mini up by the Swan Yardley and with me living over in Yardley Wood that was the end of that. Would love to know how she got on in life, maybe I can trace her now. Cheers mate. John.

Hi John,
