I will have to watch it in the conservatory, my husband loves Jeremy Kyle, he's had a sheltered life and can't believe what he sees and hears. Some of my relatives were very wealthy a few generations ago. I don't know where it went, but you never know could be a knock on the door. Although, inheriting from someone you've never met would be strange, I think.

Ann I have to admit I watch Jeremy as it is my guilty pleasure, so I shall record Heir Hunters. Some kind friend bought me this for Christmas

That's brilliant Carolina, must get one for Ray. LOL. He laughs so much at some programmes he doesn't hear what they say then expects me to know and I can't hear either. Unbelievable, some of the things they say, I JUST CAN'T STAND THE SCREAMING.

(BTW I used to live at Stourport, next to Hartlebury Common when my children were very young).

Ann thats where I live just off Hartlebury Road. I dont know if you have been lately but The Common has been really cut back and there are cows on it now.

Hi ANNIE
Like you i do whatch it i really enjoy it and look if i know anybody on it , there was one chap whom used to come into my friends pub at the old bill and bush
up at coventry rd my friends wife carol licencee done the interview on this chap whom died alone and family less left alot of money
and on the subject of any of our family of generations leaving us any money went out the window years ago ;
even before our mother died but the differents is we know where it went and we missed the gravvy train if you get my drift
to many years down the line still i live in hope like the rest of us but its a great programe justlike jerry ; i am an addict fr him and his programme

Air Unters (Heir Hunters) reminds me of my family search. I had one contact me recenlty. She had a legacy from my Birth Family, I helped them alot although I knew I would not be a beneficiary. They said they had traced the 8 beneficiaries then one of te beneficiaries mentioned me. I said there's more like twenty eight, all told there was about 35 They had not done their homework at all. If we could find out with our limited resouces they should be able to with theirs.
I thought hang on a minute and I stopped helping in the end. They had got relatives who who had passed away and some relatives who hadn't whom they thought had. They upset one cousin telling him in writing he was dead.They have missed one out completely =still. The legacy was divided up between the deceased siblings, who were also deveased, and their individual shares divided and re divided between their living relatives so e.g. the one who had 10 children, their desendants got peanuts, the sole child got the most.
I was told I could not have a copy as I was not a beneficiary but a cousin sent me one. It helped us with the names of some of the grandchildren but lots were not included that should have been. It was a badly typed badly spelt document, with huge gaps of information, some totally wrong information.
The administration fee, the Heir Hunters' cut and the Treasury fees were all more then the biggest beneficiary got. It was good that more relatives learned about the deceased and each other. My one cousin said if you want to know the correct information to ask me instead. Made me smile. Come over and tel me about myself he says. The Heir Hunter compny which I discovered consists if one active and one non active person, offered me some research work if they grew as a company. I keep seeing the flying pigs.:ambivalence:

Don't watch Heir hunters any more, same old ,same old.

A good advert for the fact that everyone should make a will.

Fed up of hearing when told that an uncle /aunt/cousin etc has died, 'I wish I had kept in touch', doesn't stop you taking their money though does it mate which you wouldn't know about if it wasn't for the heir hunter company. Never say' don't really deserve this so I will donate it to charity' do they?

Give me Jezzer any day.But just one question, when the dental services for those on benefits are free why are so many of his guests toothless, LOL?

In my recent experience Alberta onlya handful of relatives knew the fate and sad existance of the person who died intestate due to the hypocrasy and stigma of that era and the treatment of women at that time, without going in to details. Some beneficiaries were persuaded not to decline their inheritance by the heir hunter as the hunter would have to do more work and re distribute the money. You don't have to accept the heir hunter's offer and can do it yourself or you and I could set up an agency even. As long as we got it legally correct. The hunters told me that they would inform all the beneficiaries of the deceased life - but they didn't. They said the beneficiaries have to enquire about each other and then the hunter asks the various people if they want to speak to this or that relative. Load of tosh. If everyone had refused the legacy it would go to the state treasury. Had it have been a huge legacy the person who missed out would be in a position to sue the Heir Hunter.
Don't like Jerry Springer, makes me cringe and Kilroy Silk. The people with no teeth probably have 178 inch TV's and no teeth because they think they look good like that.

Hello Astonian, I could ask the 2 former solicitors I know, as they all know each other via the Brum and Cov Chmabers of Commerce.
I used to deal with some at work. One of those solicitors I know is being sued by a beneficiary of an estate because of something untoward that another benefeciary did. Saing that the solicitor allowed it to a happen.
The other disolluioned ex solicitor is now a lorry driver.
Very cut throat they tell me and unprofessional and money grabbing.
The heirhunter in letters to me thanked me for my help as I saved them a colossal amount of money, time and effirt saying although I was not a beneficiary because if my legal posittion, but they would engage me as a freelance researcher as I had been invaluable to them.....that was 2 years ago. They didn't. After some digging this particular heir hunter company is a just a husband a wife. The estate is divided between so many relatives most of them only got a fiver some got about £70 and one got about £250 because they were an only child. Their heirhunter came away with over £500.

HI nico ;
many thnks for coming back to me with your story ; i think i can safely say i know of one or two stories like that with one or two
people which was handled by ancestors family but try and get through to the nerve of it ; is abit inpossible i would say for me to get the ball rolling
either the fims have gone bust or the actual guys involved are no longer living but as they say if its written down then the info could still be laying around in the
basements of these offices lets face it the yester years of the old school boy club was very rife of yester years the old boy club was very close nitted
today there is many a solictiors whom have been struck off the list and they are well known in brum ;
my mothers inheritance was swindled from under her nose but because she had no back up i was only a kid in those days really and i was living in london;
but i have started some think but told to forget it as it been long gone but i have been told if i can get the eveidence the court would look at it again ;
but its a costly bussiness and this day and age whom do you trust ;
i get approached about on the stret hawkers askng have you had an acident any time ; all they need is your abode and signiture and the old solictor gets paid for tendering your signiture and then they come back and say sorry with some excuse you have not got a claim bt he gets paid for it still
best wishes astonian

OK Guys one (one?) step to far. This thread is now closed for discussion by the Admin team. Not only is it5 casting lsurs but if my memory serves me correctly it merely repeats what you have said on the subject a month or so back.
