Haseley Hall

My sister and I spent the summer of 1955 in the care of Haseley Hall. The staff were headed by Matron, a kindly lady and Nurse Adams who was the senior person on the shop floor. Most of the staff that dealt with us kids, were young auxiliaries . We slept in dormitories, girls upstairs, boys down. There were two brothers there, also from east London who sported 'crew cuts', quite modern! Sandra Chester was one girl I remember, but most of the names I have forgotten. For the likes of us kids, the building was impressive. At the foot of the stairs was a magnificent carved post which I believe was still there when Haseley Hall became a hotel.

if you read post 16 on this thread the rumours of burials in the grounds were investigated and proved unfounded...i did however find this report from 2012

Hi,Guys
I attended Haseley Hall back in around 65-68.My name is Rofik. Hopefully someone will remember that name. I have just joined this forum and read messages on here. A bit late I know but I also have fond memories of my time there. It is over 50 odd years ago. Reading here has helped jog my memory. I remember Miss Flemming. I was in the Rabbit dormitory then on to the Foxes. I was related to a lad called Colin Henry. Think the teacher was Mrs Sharman. I was a sixer in the cubs. Think it was because I was one of the eldest. I remember the outside pool being built. We all had that purple ointment put on for grazes afterwards. Remember a pet rabbit and dormouse kept in a shed. I used to have to feed and water them every day. Would love to see any pics relating to that time. Funny what stays with you, I remember after breakfast if you were lucky your parents sent letters and parcels. When I left, I used to hate the ending of the magic roundabout when Zebedee would say "time for bed" Funny memories.I do recall that if you were still regarded as ill, some were sent to Switzerland.
I was there at that time my name was lee price but I think I remember you I was in rabbit dormitory and Mrs flemming got me to knit a rabbit blue and grey 18 inches high I do remember having to go to bed early I went to Schultz after that at 9 years old I spent 3 to 4 years if anyone remembers me
