Harrisons Ltd Bradford St. Birmingham. Curtain rail Manufacturers.

I'm in a 1956 bungalow - we resurrected the original brass curtain rails and runners - the sound of curtains opening & closing from childhood !Curtain Rail.jpg Could these be Harrisons? EDIT: due to AI searching, I find this (not that I can see the h in a circle, but then I'm only a human !) :-
The maker's mark stamped on your curtain rail belongs to Harrison (Birmingham) Ltd, one of the most prominent mid-century British curtain track manufacturers.

Decoding Your Specific Mark
  • The Logo: The symbol stamped on the far left represents a highly stylized, cursive lowercase "h" inside a circle, which stands for Harrison.
  • The Text: The stamp clearly reads "CURTAIN RAIL MADE IN BHAM ENGLAND". The abbreviation "BHAM" explicitly references Birmingham, the historical epicenter of the British brassfoundry industry.

Dating Your Rail
This specific block-letter font style, combined with the stylized cursive "h" logo and the "BHAM" wording, narrows down the manufacturing date to the mid-to-late 1950s. During this decade, Harrison heavily marketed steel-cored brass and extruded brass rails for domestic post-war housing across the UK.

I had a Harrison rail in my bedroom in the 1960s and I don't remember any markings on the rail at that time. The rail would have been bought new in the very early 1960s, and it seemed very modern at the time. There were no brass parts to it, all plastic.
