hi folks i am now trying to go back another generation on my harrington side..i am on ancestry but their records do not help in this instance...if anyone is on find my past or other sites i am trying to find out who the parents were of my 4 x gt grandad john harrington who married susannah bannister in dudley sept 12th 1806..

any help or advise as to where i can go to find the marriage info which may give parents names would be much appreciated..

I didn't think they gave parents names on marriages that early.

Is that him living in Aston in 1851 with his daughter? Birthplace listed as Witcham, Gloucestershire.

Doesn't seem to be a Witcham in Gloucs, there's one in in Cambridgeshire, could be Winchcombe or Witcombe maybe. I can't see anything listed on findmypast or familysearch though.

Lyn if this is your relative he may have been born near Chipping Sodbury, there are 2 villages Wick and Abson which are often referred to together and I found quite a few Harringtons in records from Wickabson.

hello MWS yes thats him its transcribed as witcham but i think thats in cambridge...looking at the original census it looks more like it says winchcombe which is in gloucester...of course you right about not giving parents names on marr certs that early i was not thinking straight lol...it maybe better then if i can try and locate his birth/baptism entry in parish records at winchcombe...

thanks also alberta i wonder if wickabson is also a possibility as well...it really is hard to make out for sure where born on the 1851
